Digital Health Mental Wellness Early Intervention Stigma Reduction

Beyond the Blanket / MindNest addresses Ghana's growing mental health challenges by promoting early intervention, reducing stigma, and improving access to care through digital platforms including the MindNest App.

The initiative supports students, pregnant and postpartum women, survivors of abuse and trauma, prison inmates, and underserved communities — particularly in deprived areas where professional mental health services are virtually non-existent.

Through community-based outreach, peer support networks, and digital tools, MindNest empowers individuals to seek help earlier, understand their mental health, and access appropriate care — before crises escalate.

Women in Technical Trades Initiative (WTTI)

Vocational Training Skill Development Seed Funding Mentorship

The Women in Technical Trades Initiative (WTTI) is designed to equip women to enter, excel, and lead in traditionally male-dominated technical fields. The programme delivers a holistic empowerment model that combines mindset transformation with practical, hands-on training in high-demand trades.

Participants receive vocational and entrepreneurial skills training, along with start-up kits, tools, and access to seed funding or micro-loans to support their transition into sustainable livelihoods.

Each participant is paired with experienced women professionals, artisans, and master craftspersons who provide structured mentorship, industry exposure, and continuous guidance throughout their journey.

By breaking barriers and expanding opportunities, WTTI is building a new generation of confident, skilled women who are redefining roles and creating economic independence in technical trades.

Breaking Barriers

Redefining gender roles by transitioning women into high-demand, sustainable technical livelihoods.

Hospital Assets Recovery Initiative (HARI)

Equipment Repair TVET Partnership Youth Employment Maternal Health

HARI addresses the pervasive problem of non-functional hospital equipment. Across Ghana, essential medical equipment — beds, monitors, and diagnostic tools — sits broken and unused while patients suffer.

The initiative works with TVET institutions, artisans, and apprentices to repair and restore medical equipment, simultaneously creating technical training and employment opportunities for young people in the health technology sector.

Restored equipment is redistributed to health facilities that need it most — improving care for mothers giving birth, newborns, and all patients in under-resourced communities.

Double Impact

Better patient care through functional equipment + technical skills and employment for Ghana's youth

Books Reborn

Education Access Book Redistribution Reading Culture Community Libraries

Books Reborn improves access to learning materials by collecting, refurbishing, and redistributing books to underserved schools and communities. For many children in rural and peri-urban areas, a textbook is still a luxury.

The initiative supports libraries, donates reading materials to schools with the greatest need, and promotes a culture of reading through community engagement programmes. Children who have books learn better — it's that simple.

Books Reborn also creates meaningful connections between urban and rural schools, fostering a spirit of solidarity and shared purpose across Ghana's educational communities.

The Need

Millions of children in Ghana lack access to adequate textbooks. Books Reborn closes this gap one book at a time.

Live Journey Initiative

Youth Engagement Cultural Education Creative Arts Employment

The Live Journey Initiative promotes youth engagement through cultural education and the creative arts. In communities where formal employment is scarce, the cultural and creative industries offer a powerful and dignified pathway to livelihoods.

The initiative supports cultural facilitators — artists, performers, storytellers, and craftspeople — and creates employment opportunities that celebrate and preserve Ghana's rich cultural heritage.

By investing in culture, Live Journey simultaneously preserves identity, strengthens community bonds, and opens economic opportunities for young Ghanaians who might otherwise be left behind.

Safe Passage to School Initiative

Life Jackets Water Safety Child Protection Education Access

In partnership with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Safe Passage to School Initiative is mobilising resources to procure and distribute 5,000 life jackets to high-risk, water transport–dependent communities across Ghana. The initiative also delivers water safety education to promote responsible use and long-term impact.

In many of these communities, thousands of children travel by boat each day to attend school, often without basic safety protection—exposing them to a constant risk of drowning.

The project addresses this challenge by providing life jackets and practical safety training for children, while also equipping teachers, parents, and local boat operators with essential water safety knowledge. This community-wide approach helps build a lasting culture of safety.

Through this intervention, the project aims to prevent drowning, reduce risk, and ensure safer access to education for vulnerable children.

Why It's Urgent

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death among children in coastal and lakeside communities. A life jacket can make the difference between life and death.
